Maura Kelly's blog post entitled "Should Fatties Get a Room?" was met with an understandable amount of opposition (and shock, and horror). After receiving an outpouring of protest about the post, Marie Claire's Editor-in-Chief Joanna Coles said that she was "excited" by the response. As of now, Maura Kelly still has her position at Marie Claire, and Marie Claire did not issue an official apology. Did Marie Claire do enough? Share your opinion!
boycott the bigots!!
- maura kelly is entitled to her opinions, as i am to mine. however, when she decided to print them, and have them published, she moved the forum from a private opinion to an affront. marie claire has taken the wussy way out, with a tongue in cheek response.... therefore, what i propose is to contact, not marie claire, but their advertisers. contact all of them - laura mercier, sears, jc penney, liz claiborne.... just to name a few, and let them know that their continued financial support of this magazine, is defining them as supporting sizist bigotry and hate speech. the rule of thumb is for each complaint a company receives, they assume that between 25 and 100 more people are aggrieved. we are a large bloc of shoppers (no pun intended)... we can impact this situation.

NOT ENOUGH!
- I really feel it was the editor's fault that it was even published. She made the callo n publishing it in the first place, and yet she's kind of letting Maura Kelly take ALL the heat for it! The editor who made the call should be suspended at the very least.
