From the article: 5 Ways to Get Eco-Friendly
remember it's THREE r's
- Reuse, reduce and recycle - Reuse - a)you can make thrift store buys that are pretty darned fashionable, you just have to hunt b)alter your clothing - it's worth taking a sewing class to repurpose the clothes you have for new styles Reduce - Do you really need that much clothing? REALLY? I'm a clothes horse too, but sometimes buying less is just the best choice Recycle>if you have friends in similar clothing sizes, hold a swap. If it's new to you, it gives it new life. Otherwise, you can buy organic cottons and bamboo and sew your own. There is one company that was doing a plus size green line - http://www.saffrona.com/mewv/index.html. And it's real plus, not that size 12-14 nonsense. But it's very expensive.

The BIGGEST TIP of all!!!
- Buy only clothes that are washable! The chemicals in dry cleaning is hazardous to the environment and to our bodies. Our skin is our largest organ and the chemicals are absorbed through the skin. I sell real estate, when a property that used to be a dry cleaners, before the owner can sell it, environmental clean up has to be done before it can be sold. Yuk! The same thing that is done when a gasoline station is sold. Washable clothes are the way to go.
