Plus-Size Skirts & Dresses on Etsy: November Edition

Let's Thrift Up a Storm!

By , About.com Guide

It's time to start shop-shop-shopping away! November's edition for Etsy departs from the usual dresses and takes a look at a few skirts from the 1960s and 1970s, too. There's just something about plus-size vintage that I l-o-v-e LOVE. Are you in the same boat? Even if you're not, have a browse and see if just a single piece suits your fancy.

1. Plaid Wool A-Line Skirt

(32-45) This skirt is a real steal, and very cheery for the holidays. Fashioned in a bold blue-green, it would look cheery with a red sweater or sweet with a crew neck pullover. If you want to cozy up by the fire this season, I would try this great plaid skirt in a happy combination of colors. Oh -- and it's in great condition, too. This pieces ships internationally for a very fair price.

2. 1940s Sheer Nylon Dress

(44-34-Free) This dress is shown with an instant drama-lender, a soft crinoline underneath, and has a self belt to boot. One of the best details on this particular dress is the unusual stitching across the shoulders, which looks like smocking from far away. Actually, this floral print looks like a faded tie-dye or something similar, which gives it a more modern appeal to the pickier shoppers.

3. Green Apple Skirt

(33-36, 48) This skirt looks very trim when you wear it, but it can accommodate up to a size 16 -- not bad! The fun skirt is fashioned in bright green with white dots and pink cherries, and the bright green buttons are a lovely addition. Toss your hands on your hips and get a little retro attitude going. This is a sweet skirt to wear with clogs and a kerchief. In excellent condition.

4. Green Frog Skirt

(40-48) This vintage frog skirt has got enough swing and attitude to get you through until spring. This flared, a-line skirt has a novelty applique (want!) and generous sizing for the lady with plenty of curves. The skirt features an elastic waist for an extra-comfortable fit. Try it with a knotted button-down shirt or a polo.

5. Spring Floral Suit

(42-32-44) Sorry, I couldn't resist, even though this piece is walking the ugly line a little closely. This 1990s spring floral suit is trimmed with a white placket and a single bold button. It's true that the runway was full of florals, so if you want to scoop up a piece that reminds others of the hot seasonal trends, this could be it! This item is in mint condition and will ship internationally.

6. Pink Suit

(Size 16 to 18) This suit is too cute! What I wouldn't give to see a girl on the train with something this awesome. It's bright, it's bold, and it's eye-catching, and it has amazing pockets to store just about anything you want. I'd like to see this piece with a floppy clutch and heels, although the chunky platforms rocked in the picture aren't so bad, either.

7. Vintage Pendleton Suit

(Size 16 to 18) This is another bright suit for the young professional or intern who doesn't want to sacrifice her sense of style for a job. This soft suit is shiny plum and lined in lovely lilac, and who doesn't want to wear something like this for a day-to-night look, too? I feel like this suit in particular is begging for a pair of neon heels to accompany it.
