Jeans for Athletic Body Types

By , About.com Guide

"Athletic" body types can be tricky. You may have slim hips, or you could have substantial, muscular thighs and a behind to match. No matter what your athletic shape, I've found a pair of jeans to suit you.

1. L.E.I. Loop Stitch Jeans

These jeans are perfect for ample thighs, and they have an overall figure friendly shape that you’ll love down to the toes. The reason? A good bootcut can skim over thicker calves and ankles and make you look more proportional.

2. Old Navy Trouser Jeans

These jeans come out straight from the hip, which means that they can disguise thicker legs if you need. Otherwise, trouser jeans are a perfect staple for work, and Old Navy sells them up to size 20.

3. Coolwear Jeans "Perfect Timing"

Add a little interest on your hip line to give the illusion of a curvy shape if you're more "straight up and down." With a top that loosely emphasizes your waist with a sash or tie, you can add even more curves.

4. Delias Low-Rise Sailor Flares

These button-waist trousers add that extra interest to your hip area if yours are narrow, or if your bust looks slightly disproportional because it's larger. These wide-legged trousers look fabulous with flats and wrap tops, for example.

5. Freestyle Revolution Zeppelin Jeans

Embrace straight leg jeans if you have a craving for skinnier styles. Straight legs can look positively skinny if you have full legs, but they won't "choke" your calves. I love the look with one of the season's pointer flats and a cute top.

6. Gap Curvy Boot Cut Jeans

Curvy boot cut jeans will add more curves to your frame if you're on the square side. Find jeans in petite and tall for sizes 14 and 16 at Gap, and try your boot cut jeans with low heeled boots to boost your behind and add curves to your hips.
