Going Out Clothes for Pear Body Types

By , About.com Guide

Find clothes that look great on your pear body type. All you need is a tiny bit of creativity and help from flattering styles to look your absolute best.

1. Fun Casual Tops with Shape

Try out a striped top with interesting design details, but in a comfortable jersey fabric. This top from Fashion Overdose is bold and certainly commands a little extra attention. For the more timid, I'd suggest one of Fashion Overdose's other pieces, like this Floral Fitted Top.

2. Wide Legged Pants

Try a pair of dark, wide legged pants that fit your thighs comfortably. Avoid cuffing your trousers unless it's absolutely necessary, because your legs will look much shorter. If you're tall enough not to care, go ahead and cuff away!

3. Little Shrugs

Choose little shrugs and capes to cover your shoulders if they're not your favorite spot. Wear one when it gets cooler to dress up darker colored summer tops.

4. A-Line Skirts

Love wearing skirts? That's great news, because skirts can up your sex appeal, but can easily transform from work to play. The wide hem of your skirt will make your hips look more even in comparison.

5. Dark Jeans

These are a total must-have for pear-shaped women everywhere. Dark jeans will minimize your larger bottom half, and if you find a pair with oversized back pockets, your rear will look smaller, too. I like the Apple Bottoms Dark Denim Jeans, shown.

6. Suede Boots

No matter what your shape, everyone needs a pair of awesome suede boots for fall. Try a pair of boots with a little slouchiness to make your hips look at home. Toss on a cute tee, and you're done. I like the Messina Retro Ruched Boots from Duo, shown.
