Shop at Marshalls for Plus-Size Clothes and Accessories

By , About.com Guide

Did you know that Marshall's carries plus sizes? I honestly had no idea until I went into one this year and had a good look around. After comparing it to all the other department stores I've been in that carry plus, and taking a look at what they have to offer, I came up with a few important notes that I'd like to pass on.
Difficulty: Easy
Time Required: One hour

Here's How:

  1. Don't go during "rush hour." Avoid trying to find the perfect plus piece during the holidays or on the weekend, because Marshall's can seem particularly cramped in between racks and shelves.
  2. Don't get discouraged the first time around. Much like its sister shop TJ Maxx, Marshall's can have hidden treasures just waiting for you to scoop them up. Unfortunately, on an "off day," you might not find much at all. Swing back once every two weeks, and stay persistent. Getting a good deal is worth it.
  3. Check out their blog for tips (see link below). You'll find active members publishing current magazine clips on present plus-size pieces that are hot right now, and you'll also get to enjoy a community atmosphere to ask Marshall's-specific questions.
  4. Check the floors. Marshall's often has pieces misplaced in the shop, and I do find it to be more unorganized than TJ Maxx. For that reason, keep a lookout when you are heading to the dressing rooms, and also check out any racks you pass in the store.
