"Budget" can be somewhat relative, but Kathryn Finney in How to Be a Budget Fashionista does a great job of covering the individual needs of shoppers with varied wallet thicknesses, and that includes students. The relaxed, casual tone makes reading this book a breeze, and you won't be able to put it down once you start. I started reading it on a trip home from Vermont, and I read it straight through, highlighting whole paragraphs along the way.

And yes, there's plenty of advice for us plus-size fashionistas, too. One of our biggest concerns that's not addressed nearly enough is what we've got on underneath all those perfectly-fitting layers. She addressed the dreaded shelf-bra tank and the perfectly fitting bra, as well as sizing details that every stylish woman (but especially the plus-size ones) need to know.

You'll love the details on dressing for your body type, which is something that I personally advocate when you're shopping for a wardrobe that will take you far.

While all the advice probably won’t apply to you, you'll find bits and pieces in Finney’s welcome how-to that warrant a good read. If you're located in rural Oklahoma, a sample sale won't apply, but don’t rule out consignment shops or a nearby Target to fill out your wardrobe well.

Finney's personal stories take this book from a great budget fashion how-to to a really fun read. Nurture your finances and still find ways to splash out on fun fashion that you can wear to your most pressing engagements and to work the next week.

Take advantage of wardrobe charts located in the book to find out what you really need to shop for, and enjoy Finney's comic, charming commentary while you're at it. How to be a Budget Fashionista is a gem.
