I signed up for Shoe Dazzle (available up to size 10), which is a subscription-based shoe shopping site targeted for fashion mavens. It was launched in April 2009 by Kim Kardashian and stylists, and I just had to check it out.

Shoe Dazzle operates on a style-based membership: you choose items that you like in a survey format, and a stylist will email you back with five suggestions for your month's pair of shoes. If you don't like what they suggest, you can skip the month (and not get charged) or ask them to suggest more.

Since I think that's a fair policy and an intriguing shopping technique, I decided to sign up.

Signing Up

I headed over to Shoe Dazzle to sign up, and I thought that the process was easy and reassuring. Punching in my credit card numbers was scary while putting in my membership information, but the good news is that you are not charged when you don't feel like the shoe selections are tempting that month.

The one thing that made me extremely nervous was when I reviewed my shipping address, which is different from my billing. For some reason, the second address line does not appear on my membership information. When I called, they confirmed that it was in the system.

Getting My Style Profile

In order to determine which shoes suit you best, you get to take a fashion quiz on which people you think are dressed best, which celebrities look awesome, and which brands you like. It's extremely fun, and it only takes about five minutes.

The only thing that would've made the quiz more fun was if they had had the likes of Sara Ramirez and Queen Latifah-- plus-size woman have admirable style, too, as we all know.

Customer Service

I did have to contact Shoe Dazzle to work out my aforementioned address problem. They operate on Pacific Standard Time, and when I first tried to call during their normal operating hours, I got a confusing voice mail message.

I called back a few hours later, and the phone was attended by a helpful customer service representative who didn't have trouble pulling up my order.

E-mails were answered within 24 hours of sending.

Coming Up Next Week: They arrive!

Postage charges in Canada a bummer, Member Beckwithlady

I really like Shoedazzle when the shoes fit. I have had to purchase shoes between sizes 8 to 9.5 which is a pain. The free postage return doesn't apply in Canada so it costs about $20 postage to return the shoes from where I live. I have had to exchange 4 pairs out of 8 so the track record is not great. I wish there was some way to get a measurement of the shoe itself (not just the heel). For the shoes that I have bought, quality is 6 out of 10. But for $40 - I guess I can't complain. The styles are nice too. I have bought 2 purses though. They were both great.
