Skineez Skincarewear Waist Slimmer ReviewPhoto (c) Skineez
As you probably know, I am in love with shapewear of all kinds. I like how it fits (snug and full coverage), and I enjoy putting on a nice corset or tight waspie for the evening. I’ve reviewed shapewear from Bali--quite a bit of it, too--as well as stuff from ASOS, Just My Size, Frederick’s of Hollywood, Hips and Curves, and Victoria’s Secret. I’ve got quite a lot to compare at this point, and Skineez is a nice departure from the usual binding microfiber or hook-and-eye front.

Quality

The garment is constructed from an 88% nylon, 12% Spandex blend that feels slick to the touch. Seams are industrially finished and look like they could never unravel because of the way they’ve been fused to the body. The ribbing detail along the torso is fine and not overly thick, which means that the garment will be more versatile than other ones of its type.

One of the best things about Skineez shapewear is that it does not roll, bind, or shift during wear, and it's comfortable enough to wear to bed at night. That's your eight hours of wear, right there!

Cosmetextiles and Their Effect

Skineez shapewear uses a technology that combines cosmetics and textiles. The product is treated with Skintex, which is a special microcapsule that permeates the product during manufacturing. If you rub your hand against the garment, you’ll feel a slight softening effect, like touching already-moisturized skin. This treatment softens skin and lasts 8-10 washes, after which you spray on more and allow it to dry.

I noticed that the garment, when worn as suggested for 8 hours for 4-6 weeks, will soften and smooth the skin as claimed by Skineez. I don’t think you’ll lose many inches, but the product did seem to make my problem areas look less orange-peely. My waist is about an inch smaller, but I can't say whether or not it's just the Skineez, since I upped my workout routine at the same time. I'd like to say that it's both working together.

Fit

I wear a medium in Skineez, and my measurements are 29 (waist) and 42 (hips). The label sells both traditional sizing and plus, and their largest size is “H,” which covers 290-325 lbs. and up to 6’ tall. In order to slide into a compression garment more comfortably, I recommend starting with dry skin. I won’t step out of the shower and try to squeeze into shapewear, because the skin is plumped, and any water droplets on the surface makes it more difficult. Instead, start with dry skin or try moisturizing with shea butter before pulling on the garment.

Style Options

Skineez offers different style options for different people's trouble zones, including waist slimmers, bodysuits, and shorts. I tried the waist slimmer and definitely liked it, and I think that a bodysuit and a shorts set could easily be layered if you're looking for an all-over solution.

Note: I was pleased to see that this product is made in Canada.
