Q: What prompted the leather collection at Jessica London?
A: We saw that the plus size woman was not getting the variety of fashion she deserves when it comes to leather so we set out to fill that void for her. From the long leather coat to our latest aviator-style jacket, our collection offers her a great selection of choices and colors at great prices! Q: So far, what have been your best-selling coat styles?
A: Our leather blazers, Moto-style jackets, and Aviator bombers are the most popular.
Q: What is plus sizing like when working in leather? What alterations need to be made to pattern and fit?
A: Because Jessica London has been designing for plus size women for over ten years, we bring a level of expertise to our collections that cater to the curvier woman. We have fit experts and trend experts trained to ensure that every leather jacket and coat we offer is proportioned accordingly for our plus sizes. We don’t start with a trend meant for a smaller size and then alter it in an attempt to fit a plus size. We start with size 12 through 32. There are almost no other retailers that do this for plus sizes. Most are trying to take their old collections and reinvent them in plus sizes. We’ve always been plus size and so all cuts, patterns, shapes and proportions are correct from the beginning.
Q: Is there at least one style that's universally flattering for plus-size women?
A: Every leather coat and jacket we offer is designed to flatter the plus-size woman but if we had to choose just one, it would be the leather blazer. It has princess seaming and a longer silhouette that helps to balance the proportions of any body type. The leather blazer is roomy enough to wear over sweaters and blouses, but tailored and fully lined so it layers easily, is never bulky, and creates a smooth finish.
Q: How has the reception been to Jessica London's leather collection, and are there any announcements about future collections you'd like to make?
A: Fantastic! We’ve gotten some really great wall posts on Facebook from fans who love their new leather jackets and often, when they comment on deals and offers, they say they are going to use their coupon to get a leather jacket. Coming soon for spring we’re offering a new color palette of fresh sorbet hues, more silhouettes and new rich colors like Berry and Deep Ocean for our favorite bomber jacket.
