Browse by color to cut down on time.

These plus-size shirts are color coded in the thrift store for shopping ease. Underneath a gray blazer, a coral tee will look fabulous.

Thrift stores and charity shops often have their tops and trousers divided by color palette, which can make browsing easier.

  • Get Bold: Go straight to your favorite colors, like my personal favorite, reds and pinks. Look around before you continue to other racks to collect any "must haves" before continuing to the "possibles."

  • Stick to the Basics: Look for basic trousers that will match with anything. Instead of choosing unusual colored trousers, find ones that you can wear regularly and that match with blazers and tops you already own.

  • Stock Up on White: You can never have enough white blouses. Look for interesting ones in new and creative designs, with touches like lace, pinstripes, and small pearly buttons. As a plus-size woman, your biggest concern will be the fit of your blouse, which can often be constricting. Buy your blouse in a size larger if necessary, and then get it tailored.
