Plus-Size Quick Fixes

Need Help Disguising, Minimizing, or Maximizing?

By , About.com Guide

This list of quick fashion fixes is meant to be an easy reference for those of us with quick wardrobe issues who'd like to look their best.

1. Too-Loose Pants Without Belt Loops

Don't you hate it when your pants are too loose--and you don't have any belt loops to cinch the waist? Try wearing a bodysuit as a first layer, and then safety-pin the waistband to the bodysuit so that they stay in the right place. Top this with a tunic top and a blazer, and nobody's the wiser.

2. Falling-Down Bra Straps

If your bra straps are slipping down, use a skinny elastic without the metal. Gather the straps together at the back as though you were wearing a racerback. Tuck one end of the elastic into the other, and then pull. You can knot it one time further, and then trim the longer end. This is a good solution only when wearing lots of layers or a nubby sweater.

3. Concealer Drips on Your Shirt

You're making yourself up, and you drip foundation or concealer on yourself. What should you do? I've found that you'll have the best results with a Tide stain remover stick. You don't even need to remove your tee to take out the stain, and the stain remover won't mark your shirt (unless it's silk or a similar weight synthetic).

4. Overflowing Bra

Your push-up bra seems much smaller, and there's a danger of serious overspill. If it's your last clean bra, try loosening the straps slightly and wearing it a few inches lower along the back. The fit and the cup fill situation will be improved.

5. Blister-Causing Heels

Slick some Vaseline on your heels and any other place where you suffer friction burns in your shoes. If you bring a small tube of Vaseline with you to reapply as necessary. This is a great way to break in your new heels!
