I'm putting my reservations out on the line regarding Forever 21's new plus-size line, due out in May, and I'm not afraid to say it! While almost all of us crave new styles, and more of our favorite brands in extended sizes, Forever 21 is a little more complicated.
Maybe it's just me, but every time I go into a Forever 21 shop, I feel like the shoes are exciting, the accessories have definite matching potential, but the clothes themselves are only so-so in quality. I've bought tank tops from them before (college!), and they always used to shred and drop all their little beads and sequins.
While I'm thrilled about having more options, Forever 21's new "Faith 21" line, which will be available up to size 2X, has me on the worried side. I'm dying to get a sneak peek and find out the quality, because if it exceeds my expectations, we're going to have a lot more options out there. If not, well. . . I won't be surprised.

Forever 21 isn’t known for it’s quality. It’s a cheap way to get trendy clothes, not pieces that will last forever. I’m pretty excited to see what they produce. I think their regular line has some really cute stuff.
I feel like I should get some quality from inexpensive stores, though. Not high quality or anything, but Old Navy level “washing machine proof” quality. I don’t think any clothes should fall apart, as my Forever 21 pieces have. Maybe I’ve been unlucky? I’m still checking out Faith 21, though!
Hi, have you been to the new plus size shop ZIZZI in the glades shopping centre in Bromley – Kent?
I would say at last a fashionable clothes store for us larger ladies…
Jenny, size 22.
I am excited about the faith 21 line but I am worried about the sizing because sometimes store have weird sizing systems. For example: 2x can be cut like a Large. I really think they should go up to an 3X probably 4X. My reason is because almost plus size women are an 22 or 24.
I think Its great!! NOt everyone can fit into a medium or small. I love their clothers but im a large like a size 12 and none fit me! I will SO be shopping there
Its funny because ive been wearing forever21 for about 7-8 years and not once did i ever have a quality issue. I’ve also have occasionally shopped at bebe abercrombie and other more expensive brands and those garmets are in the trash now. They dont last. So whatever the reason, forever21 has always worked for me. Its great that there will be a plus size line. More customers, more traffic for the store and hey maternity cute clothes too!!
I seen “line”, the clothes aren’t up to my standards. 2x is a 15/16 what about the 18/20 and up girls? Anywho the material is the silky spandex for dresses nothing hot like the other clothes in the store. Sad to say I’m disappointed but I should’ve known better.
I went to see Forever 21’s new plus size line today and I wasn’t impressed. I think Wet Seal has much better plus size styles online, and their sizes go up to 24!
Nay on Faith 21. I have been excited about the line’s launch for weeks. First of all the items they have been showing on their “sneak peaks” are not even on the site to purchase. Second, if you check the size chart Forever 21 considers an 11/12 XL, 13/14 1X, and 15/16 2X. Stores that sell Junior sizes go up to atleast 11 – 13 so wouldn’t the idea of launching “new extended sizes” mean that they ARE actually extended. Frankly, i think the line is bullshit. If they were really looking to serve the “plus size” market, they totally bombed.
I was not impressed with the line either. alight.com has much cooler stuff and their sizes don’t stop at 2x!
Well ladies I’ve actually purchased some stuff from faith 21 online (I live in New York we don’t have a faith 21 out here YET) and it fit me AWESOMEEEEEEE i loved it the material was good but come on ladies what do you expect the clothes are trendy INEXPENSIVE clothes. I’ve noticed every week they’re adding something new I’m on my 7th order already
Wow, the 7th order? Amazing!
I think this is BULLSHIT! 2xxxxxxxxxx
I’m a size 18/20 and faith 21’s 2xs fits me fine… I ordered some dresses online and they fit perfectly!
And another thing… For some reason that’s quite beyond me, here in Singapore, it’s cheaper to buy stuff from their online webbie than to buy it from the stores itself..
I purchased some maxi dresses and other items from Faith 21 before i read the reviews and i was disappointed because i assmued that since their 1x was a 15/16 etc. it would not fit me. Well of course i tried them on when it got here and i am keeping everything save one dress(i ordered 3). I am a 14/1w on top 18/20w on bottom and the 1x maxi fit wonderfully. I am going to be shopping online a lot more at Faith 21. I think their stuff is cute, affordable and it fits.
the average plus sizes in the US are
1x=14/16 2x=18/20 & 3x=22/24 not
1x=13/14 & 2x=15/16 and i have never seen a xl in any plus size lines.
i am very disappointed in forever 21 because its not fair to throw those cute clothes in our faces then the sizes not be plus sizes for real, in my opinion.
tbh forver 21 have catered for plus size or atleast bigger women so why is everyone complaining. Forever 21 is for girls who work hard to look the way they do, if you want to get that size why dont you just work hard and you’ll fit into them
After reading all the negative press Faith 21 got about their smaller plus sized options I didn’t even want to bother trying to shop in their new plus section. Yet, last week some friends I was shopping with wanted to go in so I offered to go in and look around while they shopped, I was more than surprised to see a size 2X hanging on a rack and realized the plus section was right next to the regular clothes. I really liked this so that is a + for Faith already. Then I tried on a couple things and found that a 1X fit me in a couple shirts and the 2X was more than big enough in everything else, including the dresses. I wear an XXL and a 20 in jeans so these sizes must not be as small as their size chart claims to be. I was very impressed with Faith 21’s line and they add new items to their website almost daily. They are definitely not doing as poorly as everyone has been saying.
i recently purchased 4 blouses from faith 21. i absolutely love them. the fit is perfect, the material is beautiful and they are very comortable. i now check the site several times a week for new clothing to purchase.
Lots of people complain about Forever21’s clothing’s quality, and how the beads fall off and what not after a few washes, what I suggest would be to hand wash the delicate items. The problem is not so much with the quality but with the “class”; what most people don’t realize is that designer dresses can’t make it through a wash either, but for $300 I’m not going to take that risk–I take it to the dry cleaner or hand wash it. Most people who buy $300 dresses take efforts in taking care of their clothes; most people who shop at Forever21 don’t.
As for Old Navy quality… well, you get what you put in; if you want ugly sturdy clothes, sure, but if you want nice delicate pieces, then you have to put in the effort of taking care of it
Nay – Chloe had it right. I realize it’s a junior plus line, but I’m a size 16 and can’t fit the 2x which is the largest. I don’t know what they were thinking – the clothes are desirable and priced well, but why put out a plus line if it’s not close to plus?
I wanted to add that in the beginning the size 2x fit me a little big but the cuts have gotten smaller. My last trip to Faith 21 I couldn’t find one thing to fit.
I went to forever 21 about three weeks ago and purchased $170 worth of only faith21 clothes. The dresses are pretty high quality and the tops are what’s expected from the price. i wear a size 16, and it’s hard to find clothes that fit my boobs, and my hips are rather small compared to the size of my chest. these clothes fit perfectly. i hope they continue to make these clothes for a very long time! hope this helped!
So if I’m like a 14/16 at Lane Bryant, wear an XL at Old Navy… Should I order tops in 1x at Faith21?
That’s what I would recommend! X Meieli
I was really excited about the Faith 21 line until I went to forever 21 at Pentagon City Mall in Virginia yesterday and looked at the clothes in person. The quality looks lower than the other clothes in the store. Moreover, im a size 14/16 and I typically wear XL shirts from Gap and American Eagle and even Banana Republic and Jcrew so I cant understand why I almost ripped an XL Faith 21 top and could barely fit my boobs into a 1X. The line had real promise and the clothes look cute online but my suggestion would be to take a look and try the things on first before ordering… im glad that I did and I probably wont bother looking at their clothes in the future.
i was recently at a mall out of state this past weekend and they had a forever xxl huge store i saw the plus line and was disapointed at the sizing. im a 18/20 in tops and 20-22 in bottoms some of the tops 2x were no fits and some fit but fit weird if your gona do plus lines do it right. some stores like target go up to a 17 in bottoms xxl in tops for jrs and walmart up to a 19 and xxl in tops so they just extended the jr line with more mainstream sizing
faith 21 is coming out with 3x! is anyone else pumped or what?
Faith 21
With summer just around the corner (is it already hitting 100 degrees?) that generally means that I will be doing some new shopping so that I can be comfortable and stylish in Phoenix’s triple digit weather.
With that being said, apparently there will be a new player in town for “plus size” clothing just in time for my (and I’m assuming other pleasantly plump females) summer shopping spree. Come May 1st Forever 21 will be launching their new clothing line Faith 21 which will cater in store and online to the “plus size” lady.
I’ll be a bit honest, I haven’t shopped at Forever 21 since I was about 21 and, coincidentally, that was the last time I was small enough to fit in their clothes (I believe they go up to a 13/14). To me their clothes were on par with Wet Seal and Charlotte Russe, but they always seemed to offer something a little bit different. They strayed a bit from the mainstream but not too much (I’m looking at you Hot Topic with no disrespect). I’m definitely interested to see what they’ll come up with.
Of course, as with most major retail stores their sizes will be limited. It appears that Forever 21 will only go up to sizes 2X but hopefully that will change if the clothing line does well.
I have hips and a butt. So Forever 21 does not fit me. Regular Forever 21 clothes are made for stick straight Junior type body girls. I try not to let myself feel bad. I like the Faith 21 jeans and some of their dresses. However they are still too short if you are a tall girl like me. I think the stuff is great for a quick outfit if needed but not if you are looking to add quality pieces for your wardrobe. Even when I was “slimmer” It was hit and miss with Forever 21 since I have bangin’ hips lol, it was usually my quick go to place if I needed something for a Birthday party or girls night out. It really isn’t true to size. I just bought a dress in a 2x there and I am normally a XL in the Faith 21 line. It just depends the style and cut of the garment.
I too was excited about the launching of Forever 21’s plus size line. Opening day came and I was there when then door was opening. The first thing I saw was it was in the mall up at the window advertising the plus size line, along with the whole line right behind the 2 mannequins……3 little racks!!!!! 2 entrances and exits in the whole f*&^&!# store, the plus size line only gets 3 little racks. The clothes were nothing as hot as the rest of the store, and I wanted what was on the mannequin, but they didn’t carry it in the store. Oh, and don’t get me started on their 2x limit. How the hell can you call this a plus size line if there is a 2 size limit?!?!?! I was livid. I will keep my money going to real plus size stores like Dots where good credit is due. They have sizes from 0-24! Reasonably priced, and sexy! Not twice as much like Torrid and Lane Bryant.
You guys should check out Alloy.com. They have plus shize shirts and jeans. up to 3xl and they fit me and I am a size 20-22. I was just so disappointed at the Faith21 line. Too small. I mean I can go into Charlotte Russe or Wet Seal and find something my size, although a little searching may be required. But Forever21, there is NOTHING in there I can fit. So when I heard about Faith21, I was so happy. I could finally buy something besides jewelry from Forever21. I guess not.
I was just thinking today how much I hate how junior clothes, including plus-sized styles, feature mini skirts and dresses prominently. I’m going to have to check the hemlines this season; maybe I’ll get lucky…
I really appreciate faith 21’s line. I am not a huge girl but not a tiny bopper. In normal jeans, they tend to fit but are to low or a bit to tight but plus size jeans fit higher up but are to baggy, making it hard to find flattering clothing. This line is high wasted and fitted, helping me find my little niche in the fashion world. I also love the flattering shirt cuts that make me feel fabulous!
I like the new Forever 21 line. It doesn’t run as small s you think. At first I thought I couldn’t fit into it at all and then my best friend tricked me into trying on a size 1X! I was sure I was going to rip it apart. But it actually fit!! I think it does take a while to find something worth buying but that happens with any store period. And it also depends on what kind of body type you have because I personally wear a 20, and usually a XL or 2X at old navy but I’m really curvy. If you have more weight on top, then Faith 21 probably won’t work because their stuff is stretchy. I say try Torrid. their stuff is expensive but if you wait for promos which they have every month you can get possibly 200 dollars worth of clothing for only a hundred or at the very least 15-30 dollars off.
I am forever 29. I love this stuff. Yes its cheap but its cute and current. If it wasnt for places like this I would be stuck shopping at the dress barn or Old Navy online. They also update their inventory pretty often and the way the clothes look on the model..are the way they look on you. I think Torrid is a huge rip off. Faith 21 isnt trying to be something its not. The clothes are cheap, the quality is poor but if you take care of them they should last. For more disposable clothing check out Melrose or Rainbow if its in your area.
personally, 11/12=XL, 13/14=1X, 15/16=2X… makes perfect sense. that would mean 9/10=L, 7/8=M, 5/6=S, and 3/4=XS (theoretically, since F21 doesn’t carry XS).
however, i think we all know that F21, like most stores, doesn’t have a lot of consistently when it comes to sizing their clothes. i’m a modern-day size XS (usually a size 0). in vintage clothing, i’m a 5/6.
this goes to show you how as people have gotten consistently larger over the decades, more and more clothing stores are starting to vanity size. i’m sorry, but i don’t appreciate when my size is phased out so that heavier people can feel like they’re a smaller size than they actually are.
i don’t mean to sound attacking, it always sucks when you can’t find your size in a clothing store whether you’re too small OR too large for the brand – just wanted to add my $.02.
Spoken like someone who can shop in any store she comes across. As plus size people, we are limited in our shopping options. It has nothing to do with “vanity sizing”. Perhaps we just want to feel as fashionable and included as you probably do everytime you go into a great store. I found your comments to be incredibly condescending.
Judy, I think the biggest problem most of the girls on here have isn’t the fact that the clothing is smaller than there used to. It’s the fact that the store doesn’t make anything larger. Just as it isn’t fair that stores stop making smaller clothing. it also isn’t fair that stores not make larger clothing.
My thoughts.
OMG cheap and trendy , come on. two of my favorite words. haha. okay but seriously who doesn’t like cheap clothes that ARE trendy. some of those pieces are classic pieces. also if give me a break from trying to find things in my size. with faith 21 , i can always have faith that they are going to have something cute for me to wear. i think they should put faith 21 in every mall. i went to new york to the four store forever 21 one. okay by the way that place was amazing. my sister and i bought like 5 outfits for at least 150 bucks. an i know what your think, why would you go to new york city to time square and shop at forever 21. well when you don’t have alot of money to blow. but you do want a new cute outfit. forever 21 is seriously the place to go. an my sister and i can dress , like seriously dress. we can hook out a runway outfit at a tj-maxx or a ross. so i think faith 21 one is giving a lot of larger size teen girls a place to go. come on don’t take this away. an please don’t make it too expensive like torrid. even though i love that place to death too.
Hi I’m a new fan of Forever 21! I am an online shopper and I was searching for a cute party top and stumbled across Faith 21 on eBay. After researching Faith 21 I realized F21 had a plus size line. I didn’t believe that they would really fit me so I didn’t bother to purchase anything. One day in the mall i went into the a store that didn’t carry the Faith 21 line, but happened to had a pair of jeggings size 3x because someone returned it there. So I bought it!! Love it!! Not only did it fit but they were cute and comfy. I’m a size 18/20.
I am now a believer and just recently purchase a leatherette jacket and a top. For the price who can beat it!!
faith 21 is more of a jr plus line the size 3x is a 17/18. i work in retail and size 17 is an extended jrs size. i got so excited when it came out but realized that forever21 is catering to the very young teenagers and early-mid 20s year olds. they do have another line thats geared towards later-20s to 30something year olds and they should have extended that. limited has a new plus line but its only avail online
